Point of Care Testing Coordinator II - Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee lab activities across multiple Legacy Community Health locations, including school-based clinics and outreach programs.
  • Evaluate laboratory performance and provide actionable insights to clinical leadership teams.
  • Develop, update, and implement laboratory policies and procedures to ensure compliance with CLIA standards.
  • Lead training sessions for laboratory personnel, covering testing procedures, phlebotomy skills, and policy adherence.
  • Conduct monthly site audits and report findings to leadership for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as the point of contact for regulatory compliance and inspections, while supporting OSHA-related programs and training.
  • Manage the performance and maintenance of medical laboratory equipment, troubleshooting and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Oversee Proficiency Testing (PT) programs and drive lab quality improvement efforts.
  • Maintain accurate records of CLIA certificates and test menus across all sites.
  • Perform diagnostic tests and train staff on proper specimen handling and processing for reference labs.
  • Relay critical lab results and coordinate necessary patient follow-ups.
  • Foster a respectful and professional work environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration.
  • Integrate the primary care medical home model into laboratory operations and care delivery processes.
  • Participate in safety training and ensure compliance with workplace exposure control plans.
  • Support laboratory goals and objectives through innovative solutions and teamwork.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree is required.
  • MT(ASCP) / MLS(ASCP) certification or equivalent is required.
  • CPR/BLS training required.'
  • 2 years of point of care and/or laboratory experience in a clinical laboratory setting is required.
  • Bachelor Science degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science is preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and ability to remain compliant with HIPAA regulations.
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality of client information.
  • Ability to work with clinical staff, work well under pressure, and multitask within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to the concepts of preventive health care program and team approach to health care delivery.
  • Experience working with computers.
  • Experience working in electronic medical records.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience training laboratory and non-laboratory staff preferred.
  • Prior point of care testing experience preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
