Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient interviews to collect medical information and measure vital signs, weight, and height.
  • Record patient medical histories, vital statistics, and test results in medical records accurately.
  • Collect and prepare blood, tissue, or laboratory specimens for testing, ensuring log/documentation accuracy.
  • Assist physicians during patient examinations and treatments by handing instruments and materials.
  • Administer injections, draw blood, and perform sutures removal.
  • Prepare and restock treatment rooms for examinations, ensuring a clean and sterilized environment.
  • Perform phone consultations to discuss test results and health concerns with clients.
  • Process blood and other specimens for lab testing, ensuring proper labeling and packaging.
  • Administer medications orally, intramuscularly, subcutaneously, and topically as instructed by physicians.
  • Ensure exam rooms are consistently stocked and maintain an up-to-date inventory check.
  • Participate in OSHA compliance programs and attend mandatory safety training.
  • Operate equipment and conduct procedures safely in accordance with Legacy policies and regulations.
  • Adhere to Legacy’s exposure control plans concerning blood-borne and airborne pathogens.
  • Participate in educational programs for personal and professional development.
  • Promote teamwork and work collaboratively to achieve departmental goals.
  • Implement the primary care medical home model, focusing on patient-centered care that is culturally sensitive.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant is mandatory.
  • BLS/CPR certification is required to ensure patient safety during medical emergencies.
  • Experience of up to one year in a similar role, such as Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, or Certified Nursing Assistant, is preferred.
