Pharmacy Technician - Job Overview

Schedule: Monday-Friday (8AM-5:30PM) | Saturday (8AM-4:30PM)

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists by verifying medication doses and accurately entering patient information.
  • Ensure the precise dispensing of medications so patients receive exactly what they need.
  • Maintain stock levels and adhere to safety precautions when handling medications.
  • Adapt to changing workload demands to keep pharmacy operations efficient.
  • Process insurance adjudications and pre-authorizations in a timely manner.
  • Complete and document daily and monthly activity checklists, including drug expiration checks and area inspections.
  • Offer patient counseling sessions while maintaining confidentiality, and document these interactions.
  • Communicate effectively with referring physicians and insurance companies as needed.
  • Conduct weekly controlled substance cycle counts and participate in employee education and training initiatives.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service in line with Legacy Community Health guidelines.
  • Participate in shift hand-off communications and resolve any unresolved issues with the pharmacist manager.
  • Support 340b program inventory integrity and maintain prescription filing according to policy.
  • Handle cash transactions and reconcile prescription fills against billing.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support pharmacy operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certificate.
  • Must be registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must be able to pass a math test pertinent to retail pharmacy activities.
  • Must maintain BLS/CPR.
  • Must maintain required certifications.
  • Must have two (2) years healthcare experience.
  • 1+ years pharmacy logistics preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, community and the general public.
  • Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Demonstrate project management skills and understanding of 340b regulations, inventory management and managing a cash register.
  • Ability to remain calm under stressful conditions.
  • Must be able to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize.
  • Computer experience Windows, Excel, and Accounting software.
  • Bilingual preferred.
