Medical Assistant Bilingual - YES PREP Southwest Oaks (Job Overview)

Schedule: Monday-Thursday (7AM-4:15PM) | Friday (7AM-3PM)

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and create patient accounts and records within the medical software program, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Verify and update demographic and insurance information for patients, including photocopying identification and insurance cards.
  • Review provider schedules and ensure patient records are current and accurate.
  • Screen financial and demographic information for patients, referring them to eligibility coordinators as needed.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and follow appointment procedures as outlined by management.
  • Answer incoming calls, route them appropriately, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Assist nurse practitioners with patient registration, triage, vitals, telephone management, and patient education.
  • Perform phlebotomy and process lab specimens, including follow-ups for abnormal results.
  • Participate in clinic development, implementation, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Engage in public health education and registration activities to support community outreach efforts.
  • Document all client care and contact promptly and accurately.
  • Ensure the clinic lobby is organized and complete opening and closing procedures as required.
  • Perform other administrative and clinical tasks as assigned to contribute to the smooth operation of the clinic.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Some medical knowledge.
  • Completion of Medical Assisting program at an accredited school preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
  • Must maintain BLS/CPR certification.
  • Ability to work independently and multitask.
  • Ability to communicate with parents, students, teachers, and team members from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical record software.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks.
  • Bilingual capability is preferred.
