About the Position
Provide support to on-site Behavioral Health providers, with a focus on Psychiatrists. Duties include but are not limited to vitals/rooming patients, managing referrals to providers, screening new and existing patients with risk assessments, being responsible for patient care management, and phone communication between providers and patients. Assist BH Supervisor with duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities
BH Representative II duties are as follows in addition to all duties and assist with coverage for BH Rep I:
- Manage efforts surrounding BI reporting.
- Obtain collateral patient information from school and other providers/hospitals as needed
- Process external referrals in a timely manner.
- Ensure all referrals have been completed and relevant documents are in the medical record, i.e., Neurology, speech therapy, cardiology, etc.
- Review the schedule daily to ensure that all pre-visit preparations have been completed prior to the patient’s visit (i.e., ensuring that all lab and imaging results, consultation reports, care transition details, or significant changes in health status are available in the patient’s medical record. BH Rep II will be responsible for calling the patient, consultants, imaging centers, and hospitals to arrange for timely delivery of said information when these documents are not present in the record)
- Call patients deemed to be at risk for a “no-show” before their appointment
- Coordinate with BHC or Primary Care Physician (PCP) to schedule “urgent” patients for psychiatry or therapy appointment
- Assist with training new hires, including 1-1 shadowing
- Assist with patient complaints when Behavioral Health Supervisor is not available
- Assist with triaging behavioral health emergencies in the clinic as needed, and staff with the appropriately licensed provider and handle per BH policies and procedures.
- Attend required mandatory all-staff meetings.
- Provide data entry, general office duties, and administrative support for BH at the clinical site.
- Cross cover remotely and travel to other locations for coverage, as needed.
- Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
- Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a team to facilitate the department’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
- Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her/their responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job–related hazards.
- Attends all required safety education programs.
- Operates assigned equipment and safely performs all procedures as instructed.
- Maintains work area and equipment in condition required by Legacy standards.
- Demonstrates proper body mechanics in all functions.
- Checks on the patient’s environment and equipment to ensure safety. Reports safety concerns promptly to appropriate personnel.
- Follows Legacy’s exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
- Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, procedures, and correct use of protective barrier equipment (Universal Precautions).
- Assures a safe environment by instituting appropriate control measures.
- Attends annual education programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- One year certificate from college or technical school preferred; or one year related experience required
- BLS (CPR & AED) Certified required
- One year of Behavioral health or clinical experience required.
