Pharmacy Technician - Job Overview
Schedule: Monday-Friday (7:30AM-8PM) | Saturday (7:30AM-5:30PM)

Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside pharmacists to ensure medication appropriateness by gathering and entering patient information accurately.
- Dispense medications with precision, adhering to established procedures.
- Manage stock levels effectively and ensure safety precautions are followed when handling medications.
- Adapt to workload demands by reprioritizing tasks as needed.
- Handle insurance adjudications and pre-authorizations efficiently.
- Document daily and monthly activities, including checks for expired drugs and area inspections.
- Provide patient counseling and document any refusals.
- Communicate effectively with referring physicians and insurance companies when necessary.
- Conduct weekly controlled substance counts and maintain accurate documentation.
- Participate in training new employees and ongoing staff education.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring respectful and courteous interactions.
- Engage in shift hand-off communications to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality at all times.
- Report unresolved issues to the Pharmacy Manager for timely resolution.
- Disseminate information regarding drug availability and pricing to relevant parties.
- Support the integrity of the 340b program inventory.
- Maintain prescription files and execute daily cash collection procedures.
- Reconcile prescription fills against billing records.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the pharmacy team.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certificate.
- Must be registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
- Must be able to pass a math test pertinent to retail pharmacy activities.
- Must maintain BLS /CPR.
- Must maintain required certifications.
- Must have two (2) years healthcare experience.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- 1+ years community pharmacy preferred.
- 1+ years pharmacy logistics preferred.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, community and the general public.
- Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Demonstrate project management skills and understanding of 340b regulations, inventory management and managing a cash register.
- Ability to remain calm under stressful conditions.
- Must be able to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize.
- Computer experience Windows, Excel, and Accounting software.
- Bilingual preferred.
