Position Summary:
Responsible for administering care to adult patients. Primary clinical responsibilities will include the evaluation, treatment, and management of patients. Requesting care for acute issues which may include also screening for all chronic diseases. The physician will also supervise mid-level providers (Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants) involved in the care of adult patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Initiates an appropriate assessment of person health status, ranging from focused to comprehensive Identifying immediate needs which can be supported or the need for a referral for long term management.
Performs physical examinations, performing and documenting a health history as evidenced by chart review and ability for others to understand patient needs.
Consults with colleagues, specialists, and other health professionals as appropriate.
Orders pertinent diagnostic tests and procedures to support recommended therapy.
Supports obtaining or performs specimen collection for commonly performed blood, urine, and stool analyses and cultures.
Interprets health information and establishes diagnoses consistent with the accumulated data and formulates treatment plan, ensuring timely provision of necessary health care services.
Provides education and ensures understanding of members regarding the nature of the identified acute needs and further opportunities for evaluation and treatment.
Participates in the supervision of mid-level providers, including Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants.
Educates patients regarding health promotion and disease prevention.
Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a team to facilitate the ability to meet goals and objectives, around timely, efficient care and highly reliable customer service.
Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job–related hazards.
Maintains work area and equipment in condition required by Legacy standards.
Follows Legacy’s exposure control plans/blood-borne and airborne pathogens.
Participates in routine environmental audits and communicates needs as appropriate.
Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, procedures, and correct use of protective barrier equipment (Universal Precautions).
Assures a safe environment by instituting appropriate control measures.
Attends and completes annual required education programs.

Minimum Qualifications
- MD/DO: Medical Doctor with current licensure
MD/DO: Board certification (or Board eligible) required - APP: Current license from the Texas Board of Nursing and completion of program at an accredited school or graduation from an accredited program as Physician Assistant and current Texas state licensure or eligibility for licensure
- Participation in Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal/state reimbursement programs.
- Ability to meet Legacy Community Health’s EPIC proficiency requirements.
- Demonstrated competency with an EHRS system.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Above-average organizational skills.
- Strong typing and computer skills.
- Access to sensitive information requiring secure management and discretion.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and complex decision-making.
