Assistant Coordinator - Legacy Little Readers (Job Overview)
Schedule: Monday-Friday (8AM-5PM)

In this role, you’ll be at the heart of a transformative initiative that brings books and literacy resources to children in our pediatric programs. You’ll work closely with donors, book companies, and valued community partners like Reach Out and Read (ROAR) and the Children’s Museum to ensure every child we serve has access to the joy of reading. Key Responsibilities
- Support the Legacy Little Readers program by overseeing book processing, labeling, and distribution to clinic sites.
- Coordinate with Reach Out and Read (ROAR) to deliver training for clinicians, ensuring they can effectively support literacy initiatives.
- Order books tailored to the age, language, and cultural needs of diverse families served by our clinics.
- Distribute Welcome Baby orders from the Children’s Museum to clinics and baby showers, nurturing early literacy.
- Maintain an organized warehouse of books, ensuring inventory is well-stocked and accessible.
- Strengthen partnerships with external organizations like ROAR and other community groups to expand program reach.
- Represent Legacy Little Readers at community events, distributing books and engaging with families.
- Ensure reading corners at clinic sites are welcoming and functional, coordinating reading schedules as needed.
- Mentor and support Cristo Rey students involved in the program, fostering their growth and development.
- Track program outcomes and submit monthly reports to ROAR and for board meetings.
- Participate in fundraising efforts, manage program funds, and prepare detailed financial reports.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of customer service experience
- 2+ years of computer proficiency
- 2+ years of experience working with the public
- Strong organizational skills
- Community outreach experience
- Customer service knowledge and skills
- Computer knowledge and skills
- Ability to greet clients promptly and courteously
- Knowledge of Legacy’s services
- Ability to report to Supervisor and ROAR
- Hospitality experience (preferred)
- Ability to manage or supervise others (preferred)
- Bilingual (preferred but not required)
- Knowledge of Legacy Community Health and its services (preferred)
- Ability to participate in community events (preferred)
