Pharmacy Technician - Infusion and Injectable Services (Job Overview)

Schedule: Monday-Friday (7:30AM-5:30PM)

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing both infusion and injectable medications.
  • Ensure compliance with sterile compounding operations as per USP guidelines.
  • Prepare medication labels, documentation, and keep accurate inventory records.
  • Manage infusion workflow queues and coordinate medication scheduling effectively.
  • Ensure that all medications are available before scheduled infusion appointments.
  • Oversee the procurement and inventory management of specialty medications and biologics.
  • Support administration programs for long-acting injectable medications including in areas like HIV and osteoporosis.
  • Monitor medication inventory levels and proactively address any shortages.
  • Coordinate medication shipments and manage cold-chain storage requirements.
  • Assist with replacement programs and manufacturer support initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts and facilitate inventory rotation.
  • Assist with the implementation of inventory management systems to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy, nursing, and clinic teams to enhance patient access to therapy.
  • Participate in audits and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance.
  • Contribute to departmental projects and efforts for service expansion.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal and state regulations while adhering to organizational policies.
  • Proactively identify operational issues and recommend improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certificate
  • Registered as a licensed pharmacy technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
  • Ability to pass a math test pertinent to retail pharmacy activities
  • Active BLS /CPR certification
  • Active Sterile Compounding Certification
  • Current Immunization Certification and ability to administer vaccines
  • Three (3) years of pharmacy technician experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Advanced Pharmacy Technician Certification
  •  Excellent communication skills and customer service skills. Ability to communicate effectively with staff, community and the general public.
  • Understanding of sterile compounding principles and aseptic technique.
  • Project management skills and understanding of 340b regulations, inventory management and managing a cash register
  • Ability to remain calm under stressful conditions.
  • Must be able to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize
  • Computer experience – Windows, Excel, and Accounting software.
  • This job requires access to confidential and sensitive information, requiring ongoing discretion and secure information management
  • Bilingual / Spanish fluency.
