As a Point of Care Coordinator I, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining our high standards for point of care testing across these dynamic environments.
Your expertise will drive the quality and compliance of lab testing, ensuring we meet the stringent demands of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) and other regulatory frameworks. This position is not just about managing laboratory operations—it's about directly impacting patient outcomes and community health.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate laboratory activities across all Legacy Community Health locations, including school-based clinics and outreach departments.
- Evaluate and enhance laboratory functioning, delivering insights to clinical operations leadership.
- Develop, revise, and implement laboratory policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
- Conduct training for laboratory staff, ensuring adherence to best practices in laboratory testing and blood collection.
- Lead monthly site audits and provide detailed reports to executive leadership.
- Act as the primary contact for regulatory compliance and external inspections.
- Support OSHA compliance and training initiatives related to laboratory operations.
- Maintain laboratory equipment through quality standards, routine maintenance, and problem resolution.
- Oversee the Proficiency Testing (PT) Program for assigned sites, ensuring accurate test menus and CLIA certificate compliance.
- Provide diagnostic testing, staff training for specimen processing, and critical value reporting to clinicians.
- Foster a respectful and collaborative work environment, aligned with Legacy's mission and care coordination model.
- Ensure safety and compliance with exposure control plans and participate in ongoing education and safety training.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree required.
- MT(ASCP) / MLS(ASCP) certification or equivalent mandatory.
- CPR/BLS training is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of point of care and/or laboratory experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
