About the Position

The Director Dental Services oversees the dental staff and administers, maintains, and expands a program of primary and preventive dental care in a community health center setting.  

Key Responsibilities

• Examine individuals requesting care. Diagnose their dental/oral conditions, prescribe and carry out, or direct others in carrying out, appropriate dental/oral treatment. Refer individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines, when appropriate.
• Record patient-dentist transactions as they occur in the patient’s dental record to ensure that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided.
• Complete referrals, data collections instruments and other records or paperwork as required.
• Educate individuals about oral health related conditions and promote oral health related disease prevention.

Requirements

• Unrestricted license to practice in the state of TX as Dentist
• Current CPR (BLS) certification
• Texas DPS and DEA registrations
• Five (5) years of experience in clinical practice is required
• Previous leadership or management is preferred
• Previous experience with managing financials and budgets is preferred.
• Community healthcare experience
• Provider shall obtain, maintain and participate in the Medicare and Medicaid Programs, workers’ compensation, other federal and state reimbursement programs, and the payment plan of any commercial insurer, health maintenance organization, preferred provider organization, accountable health plan, and other health benefit program requested by Legacy.
