School-Based Health Bilingual Medical Assistant - Job Overview

Work Schedule: Monday-Thursday (7AM-4:15PM) and Friday (7AM-3PM)

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain patient accounts/records within medical software.
  • Ensure accuracy of demographic and policy information and manage necessary documentation.
  • Photocopy identification and insurance cards; review provider schedules and patient information.
  • Verify insurance status and refer patients to eligibility coordinators if needed.
  • Handle incoming calls and route appropriately while performing client intake and appointment notifications.
  • Assist the nurse practitioner with operational tasks such as patient registration, triage, and vital signs.
  • Document client care/contact promptly; assess clinic client and parent needs.
  • Engage in public health education and follow-up on lab results; perform phlebotomy duties as needed.
  • Contribute to administrative tasks for efficient clinic operations and participate in performance improvement activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Some medical knowledge necessary; completion of a Medical Assisting program at an accredited school preferred.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification, with certification as a Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with diverse backgrounds effectively.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record software use.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required to best serve our diverse community.
