Legacy Community Health is Interviewing for Director-Infectious Disease in Houston, Texas!

The Director-Infectious Disease supports the Medical Director (MD) in overseeing the Infectious Disease Specialty.



Essential Duties and Functions:
 
  • Review and recommend action based on service recovery reports (Patient complaints).
  • Oversee Methodist Scholars and Fellow ship program.  Acts as Legacy point of contact for the program.  Oversee referral workflow and effective execution of the grant.
  • Assist with supervision and effective execution of Federal & State funded grants related to Infectious Disease specialty at Legacy.
  • Develop and update Infection control policies & procedures. Manage any acute infection episodes at any Legacy site.
  • Participate in Infectious Disease Clinician interviewing, recruitment and onboarding.
  • Contribute for adult patients (18+) vaccine updates per latest guidelines.
  • Provide support to on-site clinicians with logjams and workflow issues. Support clinicians by providing In-basket coverage as necessary. Participate as backup on call.
  • Participate in Clinical & operations collaborative meetings.
  • Assist with infection disease clinician’s effective schedule utilization.
  • Provide oversight of quality of infectious disease team.
  • Departmental goals: accountable for the specialty departmental goals
  • In collaboration with MD, complete performance reviews as required (90 day, yearly, etc.).
  • Lead service line specific all provider monthly meeting if MD is not available, with adequate notice from MD to allow for preparation.
  • Assist in organizing team building activities
  • Schedule at least one-half day at clinic site for onsite visit per week. Maintain regular clinic hours for a percentage of FTE as determined with Medical Director, as detailed on the service line’s clinical job description.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Education, Certifications, Licenses and Training
(Minimum Requirements):                                                                                                                                                                         
  • Graduate from an accredited medical school as M.D., D.O.
  • Credentialed and privileged according to Legacy’s standards and practices.
  • Board certification in primary specialty (Pediatrics, Adult Medicine, Family Practice).
Provider shall obtain, maintain and participate in the Medicare and Medicaid Programs, workers’ compensation, other federal and state reimbursement programs, and the payment plan of any commercial insurer, health maintenance organization, preferred provider organization, accountable health plan, and other health benefit program requested by Legacy.


Required Years of Experience
(Minimum Requirements):

Two (2) years in leadership role is required, preferably at an FQHC.

Desirable Education and/or Experience:
  • Previous experience in Infectious Disease.
  • Prefer completion of ID Fellowship and board certification in Infectious Disease.   

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:
(Minimum Requirements): 

 
  • Experience in managing other employed physicians or peers
  • Demonstrated competency with an EHRS system.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Above average organizational skills.
  • This job requires access to confidential and sensitive information, requiring ongoing discretion and secure information management
  • Must be able to manage multiple deadlines and decision-making responsibilities.

Bilingual in Spanish Preferred
