Director, Pharmacy Strategic Programs & Innovation (Job Overview)

Schedule: Monday-Friday (8AM-5PM)

In this meaningful leadership role, you will guide pharmacy initiatives that expand patient access, strengthen care experiences, and support long-term financial sustainability.

You will bring ideas to life by leading new pharmacy programs, emerging service models, pilot initiatives, and cross-functional strategic projects from concept through implementation. Your pharmacy leadership experience, strategic perspective, and passion for innovation will help turn promising opportunities into practical solutions for patients, care teams, and the broader healthcare ecosystem.

Working closely with organizational leaders and designated teams or designees responsible for grants, philanthropy, and external funding opportunities, you will help advance pharmacy-related initiatives that make a lasting difference in the communities we serve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead system-wide pharmacy initiatives from concept to pilot.
  • Manage timelines, deliverables, budget, metrics, and cross-department collaboration to ensure successful execution.
  • Provide regular and timely updates to Pharmacy leadership team on all projects to ensure visibility and awareness.
  • Proactively identify potential roadblocks, delays, and concerns.
  • Partner with Pharmacy leadership to address issues timely and effectively.
  • Support evaluation of pilot program and update initiatives as needed.
  • Partner with Director Pharmacy Operations to ensure project feasibility.
  • With approval from Pharmacy Leadership Team, manage and oversee implementation of projects and initiatives.
  • Support rollout of new service lines, including long-acting injectables, vaccination initiatives, centralized services, and tele-pharmacy concepts.
  • Develop pilot launches to test developed processes and procedures.
  • Develop standardized operating procedures for new service and oversee roll-out and communication to pharmacy teams.
  • Partner with Legacy grants team to support pharmacy specific grants, pilots, and demonstration projects.
  • Track outcomes, reporting requirements, and sustainability plans.
  • Serve as pharmacy liaison for innovation-focused external partners.
  • Coordinate pharmacy-related projects involving manufacturers, vendors, and MSLs.
  • Ensure all grants, pilots, and external initiatives are aligned with compliance, finance, and clinical priorities.
  • Partner with Marketing & Communications to support pharmacy campaigns and launches.
  • Help position pharmacy initiatives for internal leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Proactively seek, evaluate, and acquire external business and prescription volume sources, including referral partners, prescribers, and service-line collaborations, to accelerate pharmacy growth across the organization.
  • Build and maintain high value external relationships that expand prescription pipelines, strengthen service-line integration, and support long-term financial sustainability for the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy
  • Active Texas Board of Pharmacy license in good standing

Required Years of Experience

  • Five (5) years of Pharmacy experience with at least three (3) years in leadership level positions
  • Previous Administrative, management, or supervisory experience. Previous experience working in cross-functional teams.
  • Previous project management experience.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

  • Master's degree in public health or healthcare/business management is preferred

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and State/Federal laws governing medical and pharmacy services.
  • Strong leadership and mediation abilities. Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service skills. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of statistics and graphical representation principles to communicate effectively.
  • Computer literate in electronic mail, word processing, and office management system software.
