Key Responsibilities
- Manage and revolutionize day-to-day operations of the specialty pharmacy, optimizing inventory management, order processing, and prescription dispensing.
- Oversee and enhance MTM services, ensuring comprehensive medication reviews, consultations, and ongoing monitoring.
- Develop and implement progressive policies and procedures for compliance with pharmacy regulations.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration with healthcare professionals to drive optimal patient outcomes.
- Lead training and provide strategic guidance to pharmacy staff on specialty pharmaceuticals and MTM services.
- Monitor and analyze pharmacy performance metrics to identify innovative improvements.
- Stay at the forefront of pharmaceutical industry developments, including new medications and emerging therapies.
- Manage and optimize relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers and specialty drug vendors.
- Participate in and lead quality improvement initiatives, overseeing the preparation and submission of pharmacy reports.
- Support the integration of pharmacy services to ensure full compliance with legal requirements.
- Oversee and engage in Quality Management Committee (QMC) activities.
- Drive clinical decision-making aspects of the Specialty Pharmacy Program.
- Innovate the use of information systems and technology to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Identify and deploy groundbreaking solutions to elevate department operations.
- Champion change initiatives while maintaining resilience in navigating organizational transformations.
- Promote positive patient experiences through the strategic use of pharmaceuticals.
- Supervise and mentor MTM & Specialty Pharmacy Technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
- Perform other duties as assigned, propelling the department towards excellence.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an accredited institution.
- Valid Pharmacist license from the Board of Pharmacy of the State of Texas.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a pharmacy setting, preferably in specialty pharmacy or MTM.
- At least Three (3) years of pharmacy supervisor/management experience.
- Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) or Board-Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP) preferred.
- Masters in Business Administration (MBA) or Masters in Public Health (MPH) preferred.
- Experience in HIV/AIDS, Geriatrics, and/or Pediatrics preferred.
- Proficiency with computerized drug distribution/pharmacy management systems preferred.
- Strong knowledge of specialty pharmaceuticals and an understanding of pharmaceutical regulations and industry standards.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with experience managing a team in a dynamic environment.
- Proven multitasking capabilities in a fast-paced setting.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and State/Federal laws governing medical services.
- Understanding of rational drug therapy principles, with the ability to train others.
- Strong commitment to excellence in healthcare and customer service.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Basic knowledge of statistics and graphical representation principles.
