Clinic Medical Director - Job Overview
Schedule: Monday-Friday (8AM-5PM)
As Clinic Medical Director, you will be the clinical lead for your site, bringing together compassionate patient care, provider mentorship, and thoughtful clinical leadership. You will help guide primary care services across Pediatrics, Adult Family Practice & Specialty, and OBGYN while partnering closely with operational and nursing leadership.
This role gives you the opportunity to continue caring for patients while helping your team grow and succeed. Clinical care may include family planning and related preventative health services in compliance with federal funding requirements. Your work will make a meaningful difference by connecting strong clinical practice with the everyday needs of the community healthcare system.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the clinical lead at the clinic and direct supervisor of providers at the clinic in primary care (Pediatrics, Adult Family Practice & Specialty, and OBGYN).
- Manage in collaboration with the Site Director.
- Manage schedule optimization and schedule coverage.
- Monitor provider behavior and professionalism.
- Lead clinical workflow implementation and optimization.
- Address urgent issues in the clinic.
- Directly communicate with the service line medical director regarding provider behavior concerns.
- Educate providers in the clinic on new initiatives and projects, and monitor and support providers on implementation.
- Promote and monitor specific productivity metrics and standards of care for each provider.
- Monitor empanelment metrics, such as panel size and provider loyalty, as assigned, for providers at the site.
- In collaboration with the medical directors, assist with recruitment and interviews of providers for the site.
- Review data on wait times for new patients, no-show rates, and other measures to make decisions on how the service line can grow, expand, and determine where expansion is appropriate.
- Serve as the link between the EHRS/IT team at the local level to ensure that discipline-related content is up to date and relevant and that providers’ use of the system is optimized.
- Partner and strategize with the Site Director on implementing improvement strategies in discipline-specific processes such as scheduling and clinic workflows.
- Manage CME time and reimbursement requests.
- Manage the PTO and holiday schedule in coordination with the Site Director.
- Manage complaints and incident reports as they relate to clinical operations.
- Stand as the Lab Director for the site.
- Serve as the assigned training MD for Standing Delegated Orders.
- As a provider, participate in the Provider Incentive Program, with a modification to include metrics of success of the clinic site.
- Provide administrative time based on the size of the clinic, with administrative time changing accordingly.
- Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention, including FQHC-required voluntary family planning services and related preventative health services in compliance with funding requirements and state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited medical school as M.D., D.O.
- Primary Care Specialty (Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Adult Medicine, Family Practice)
- Credentialed and privileged according to Legacy’s standards and practices
- Provider shall obtain, maintain and participate in the Medicare and Medicaid Programs, workers’ compensation, other federal and state reimbursement programs, and the payment plan of any commercial insurer, health maintenance organization, preferred provider organization, accountable health plan, and other health benefit program requested by Legacy
Required Years of Experience
- Physician with at least 3 years of clinical practice, post residency
- Board certified in their specialty
- Leadership/management experience
Desirable Education and/or Experience
- Experience in supporting clinical programs across departments and initiating and developing programs
- Experience in FQHC environment
